UNICEF Project – Reusable Sanitary Napkins
A Social Enterprise Creating Health, Jobs & Economic Opportunity
In 2019 and 2021, our Reusable Sanitary Napkins project demonstrated a sustainable social-enterprise approach to menstrual health in Afghanistan—combining women's employment, local production, product sales, and social impact.
Reusable sanitary napkins were locally produced by Afghan women, creating jobs and income while providing an affordable, washable, and environmentally friendly menstrual hygiene solution.
A significant milestone for the project was the sale of our reusable sanitary napkins to UNICEF. The products purchased by UNICEF were distributed to girls in schools in Kabul, allowing the project to generate earned revenue while expanding menstrual-product access for adolescent girls.
Beyond institutional sales, reusable sanitary napkins were also sold in the Kabul market to individual customers, demonstrating consumer demand and the potential for a sustainable commercial model.
